EHR import
EHR import is where you hand Scrivio a complete export from another EHR: one zip archive holding clients, care trajectories, appointments, notes and documents. The screen does one thing — it brings the archive in safely. What happens to it afterwards is decided on Reviewing an import, where you see per record type what the delivery would do to the record before anything is written.
The screen is intended for the organization administrator migrating a practice to Scrivio.
Overview
| Route | /organization/epd-import |

You reach the screen through Organization management → EHR import. The import always works within your own organization: what is delivered belongs to the organization you are signed in to.
How it works
An EHR export is a single file, sometimes several gigabytes in size. Files that large do not travel through Scrivio's ordinary upload, so this archive goes straight to storage: Scrivio first registers the import, authorises your browser to write that one file, and the bytes then travel to the EU storage environment outside the application.
That has two consequences you see on the screen.
The upload takes a while, and therefore shows progress. You get a bar with a percentage as well as the number of megabytes that have arrived. The second number is there for a reason: at this size the percentage moves so slowly that the bytes are what tell you whether the upload is running or stuck.
The upload is resumable. If the connection drops, what already arrived is not lost. Try again continues the upload where it left off, within the same import — so no second, half-filled import appears in your overview.
Finishing the upload is not finishing the import
The work starts once the last byte is in: Scrivio has to pick the archive up, unpack it and read it before there is anything to review. That happens in the background and takes several minutes for a large delivery.
The screen therefore stays on Archive is being processed and reports the state of the import for as long as that takes. Only when there is genuinely something to see does it move on to Reviewing an import. You can close the window: the processing runs on the server and does not stop when you leave.
Uploading the archive
Choose the zip file in the upload field and click Upload.
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Archive (.zip) | Yes | The export from the source system, as one zip file. Any other file type, or an empty file, is refused immediately — before anything is sent. |
While the transfer runs you can stop it with Cancel upload. That is not a loss either: what arrived stays, and you can finish the upload later with Try again.
Waiting for processing
After the upload the screen reports that the archive is being processed, along with the state of the import — "Unpacking archive", for instance. As soon as the delivery has been read, Scrivio opens the review screen itself.
If you would rather not wait, Go to the import preview takes you there directly. As long as the delivery has not been read, there is nothing in it yet.
If it takes exceptionally long the screen stops watching and says so. The import itself carries on; the same button gets you to it.
Resuming an upload
If the upload fails — a dropped connection, a cancelled upload, an interrupted session — the screen reports what went wrong and offers two ways on:
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Try again | The upload continues within the same import. What already arrived is not sent a second time. |
| Choose another file | You start over with a different archive. The previous import is left empty and has no consequences. |
If it keeps failing, check that the file is still where it was and that the connection is stable. An archive this size asks for a wired, or at least a steady, connection.
